japa meditation
The soft repetition of a mantra on a string of beads. An easy way to focus the mind, calm emotions, and connect inwardly.
Japa is the quieter cousin of kirtan. Where kirtan is communal and sung aloud, japa is personal and almost silent. Using a string of beads called japa beads, you repeat a mantra softly to yourself, bead by bead.
Many students who begin japa find that the practice becomes a daily companion: five or ten minutes in the morning, a round of beads on the L on the way home, or a quiet moment before sleep.
We can help you start a japa practice if you’d like to try it. Reach out through the contact form and we’ll share a simple introduction to the mantra, the beads, and the everyday rhythm that makes the practice stick. There is no charge, no requirement, and no follow-up obligation.
